Veterinary Digital X-ray Imaging
With superior image resolution and the ability to enlarge and manipulate the digital images, digital X-rays have proven to be more versatile and efficient than the traditional film X-ray technology. Because the images are sharper and give our veterinarians a greater amount of information, we have to take less images and can provide a faster diagnosis, leading to more immediate treatment and a quicker recovery for pets.
Digital X-rays also take less time to capture and less time to process, which leads to less time that the pet has to spend on the table and ultimately less stress for him or her. Since the images are digital, we are also able to email them to specialists for consultation on challenging cases or directly to the pet owner for his or her own records.

Veterinary Ultrasound
Ultrasound is another non-invasive diagnostic tool that The Pet Hospital of Madison employs. Using ultrasound, we can view the abdomen or chest of an animal and examine the condition and operation of the internal organs in “real time.” Our veterinarians often use the ultrasound to diagnose conditions involving:
- Cardiac (heart) issues
- Unexplained vomiting
- Abnormal urination
- Diarrhea
- Weight loss
- Abnormal kidney or liver blood work
